Páňa Cup 2025: Kladno to Host Europe’s Elite as Czech Clubs Battle for the Title

From Friday, August 22, to Sunday, August 24, Kladno will become the center of European ball hockey. The City Ball Hockey Arena will host the next edition of the prestigious Páňa Cup, an event that has, since its founding in 2018, combined the memory of a late teammate with top-level competition.

The tournament has built a reputation as one of the most competitive club ball hockey events in Europe. This year’s lineup features 10 teams from five countries – Czechia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Finland, and Great Britain. Over three days, a total of 27 games will determine the winner.

Czech Elite vs. International Competition

As usual, the main spotlight will be on the Czech clubs:

• HBC Hostivař – reigning CROSSDOCK Extraliga champion and defending Páňa Cup winner. Hostivař comes in as the top favorite, looking to confirm its position not only at home but also on the international stage.

• HBC Kladno – the home “Lynxes” finished with bronze both in the Extraliga and last year’s Páňa Cup. Playing in front of their own fans, they’ll aim even higher this time.

• Elba DDM Ústí nad Labem – a traditional participant, appearing for the fourth time. The North Bohemian side has yet to claim a medal, but this year they’re determined to change that.

These three Czech teams will face tough opposition led by Slovak champions Skalica, Swiss sides Rebells and La Chaux-de-Fonds, as well as newcomers from Finland – both the reigning champions and runners-up. Adding an exciting twist, the British national team will also join, using the tournament as preparation for the 2026 World Championship in Ostrava.

Three Days of Intense Battles

The tournament format features two group-stage days, followed by Sunday’s knockout rounds and the final showdown. The pace will be relentless – nine games each on Friday and Saturday, with Sunday deciding it all. For Czech fans, this is a unique opportunity to watch domestic champions and runners-up go head-to-head with clubs shaping the future of ball hockey across Europe. Each game promises not only a battle for points but also a showcase of contrasting playing styles. For those who cannot attend in person, the entire tournament will be streamed live on the official ISBHF YouTube channel.
